10 Free Android Video Editor Apps

Useful Resources For Video Manipulating Apps For Beginners

You know the story: You’re on the bus, surfing the web on your smartphone, when you come across the perfect GIF meme to use against that annoying stranger who you’ve been arguing with for three hours on Facebook. The only problem is that the GIF would be a thousand times better if you could just change the text.

Editing the clip on your home computer would be as easy as snapping your fingers. You’d just pull the clip into one of your many professional video editing programs and edit it to your heart’s content.

Unfortunately, you’re stuck on a bus, so what can you do? You can use one of these free Android video editing apps that are specifically designed to help you perfect your videos while on-the-go.

FilmoraGo

FilmoraGo is a great example of a free Android video editing app. This app is loaded with special effects, filters, and animations to spice up your videos.

Combine these features with the option that the app gives you to create slideshows from media files in your gallery and you have a pretty powerful setup to enhance your selfies and group photos, which can then be shared to social networks like Facebook and Twitter. FilmoraGo also includes the ability to crop, trim, rotate, and add audio soundtracks to your videos.

VivaVideo

VideoVideo is another great video editing app that’s available for Android, iOS, and web browsers so you can access the videos you create and edit in the cloud from virtually anywhere.

VideoVideo lets you create videos by adding multiple pictures together in a slideshow or you can edit a video by breaking it down into individual frames that you can move around, delete, or add special effects to.

VideoVideo lets you share your creations on social networks or you can create your own group on VideoVideo, where all of your friends can check out your portfolio of videos all at once.

Video Maker Pro

Video Maker Pro has a fancy, modern interface and lets you create videos from scratch. This app is actually designed to create full-blown movies from your Android device by adding special effects to your pre-recorded videos.

Unfortunately, Video Maker Pro should only be run on more modern devices as it’s been known to be unstable on older devices. If you do use this app on an older device, you may notice a significant lag in performance and the app may freeze up on you and force you to restart it, which could make you lose any work you’ve already completed.

VidTrim

Like the name suggests, VidTrim is an app specifically made for trimming videos by deleting unwanted clips, rearranging individual frames, or merging two or more files together.

VidTrim also lets you export the audio of a video you’re working on to an MP3 file, which can then be added back in as an audio soundtrack wherever you’d like it. VidTrim also supports transcoding off-brand file formats, like AVI, to super-compressed MP4 files with no loss in quality.

VidTrim also lets you share your creations with your friends by uploading them to social networking sites or sending them directly in a text message or even an email.

KineMaster

KineMaster boasts itself as the only full-featured free Android app for video editing that truly gives you everything you would expect from professional video editing software, although it can take a little getting used to.

KineMaster’s main feature is that it allows you to create layered video projects, which means you can have more than one video playing at the same time in one frame, like how some YouTube videos have previews for additional videos at the bottom of the screen. Layers also let you add special effects and animated text, including handwritten text, on top of any video you’re working on.

Like other apps, KineMaster also supports frame-by-frame trimming and splicing as well as the ability to adjust the lighting, sound effects, transition effects, and add themes to any frame or group of frames. KineMaster also lets you upload your videos to YouTube, Facebook, Google+, and Dropbox.

VideoFX Music Video Maker

VideoFX is an app that’s all about music. This app lets you take delay and pause video frames to reposition objects in various orientations while your audio clip plays in the background.

The app also lets you set a retro or cartoon styled theme over your entire video for a fun, custom animation without any experience required.

PowerDirector

PowerDirector is a mobile movie maker that lets you edit videos you record on your GoPro or smartphone by dubbing it with a custom voice-over, rearranging frames, and adding in special effects like transitional effects, custom lighting, and custom viewing angles.

This app has a powerful suite of tools that include drag-and-drop editing, cropping, audio management, and slow motion effects.

Magisto Video Editor & Maker

Magisto is a quick and easy app that takes multiple pictures and combines it with an audio soundtrack of your choice to create an amazing music video that you can post on your Facebook Wall or send to your friends.

Magisto also has an app called Magisto Shot for Messenger that’s specifically made for the Facebook Messenger.

Adobe Premiere Clip

Adobe Premiere Clip is another automatic movie maker that lets you pick a soundtrack that you like and then rearrange your pictures into whatever order you prefer by dragging and dropping them into place.

While you can control the speed of the video, this app will also automatically attempt to sync up your picture transitions with the beat of the song you choose.

AndroVid Video Editor

AndroVid Video Editor is probably the most feature-packed app on this list. AndroVid lets you split videos into multiple pieces, combine multiple videos into a single video, drag and drop frames around at your leisure, add music to your videos, adjust the lighting, and control a variety of special effects.

AndroVid also has a built-in video transcoder that lets you convert your video to 3GP, AVI, FLV, MP4, MPG, MOV, WMV and VOB file formats. Be careful not to get the free version of the app confused with the Pro version that sells for $1.99.

Conclusion

Among the all the Magisto is the one I’m currently using as my on-the-go video editor. Its simple users interface is one of the the reasons I love this app.
